Worthing College offers counselling services on campus to support students whilst they are attending college in order to provide a confidential and supportive environment within which personal issues may be discussed. The counselling service enables students to progress effectively through their learning programme and creates an environment which would help to retain and motivate students. This is a free service to students, most of whom are 16 to 18 years old.

Sage Counselling
SAGE Counselling offers a home visiting counselling service to adults of all ages who have difficulties using conventional counselling due to mobility issues. Visits could be in the home, a hospital, a residential or nursing home. Student applicants are asked to submit 250-500 words as to why they would want a placement with us. We want to ensure applicants have considered carefully about working with this client group. Counsellors are expected to have a caseload of at least three clients. You will generally be offered clients within your local area to help minimise fuel costs. SAGE Counselling does not pay travel expenses to student counsellors. Applicants should be car drivers with a clean license. Please submit two completed references, one each from college and workplace. SAGE Counselling offers a wealth of experience and support to its volunteers. If you are successful at interview you will have an induction and then be allocated clients as they become available. Fortnightly group supervision is provided and run in accordance with BACP guidelines. There are currently supervision groups in Chichester and Storrington. Because our clients are considered vulnerable adults, a DBS check is required. SAGE Counselling will pay for this unless you already have a suitable certificate. We have had students who successfully complete their training and go on to work for us after qualifying. Telephone SAGE Administrator, Mrs Margaret Hambrook for any queries on 07585 141599 or email her on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
